Stepping into the New Millenium
J&A Architects has played a significant role in shaping Mauritius during the past 20 years.The firm has had a hand in the design and creation of many of the island’s landmark residential and commercial structures and public infrastructure projects, from the original Footbridge Bridge at Port Louis to the Business Incubator Centre at Coromandel. Natec *
Natec Medical has been a very successful enterprise that manufactures high-tech medical equipment for heart surgery principally for export to the U.S market. Cramped in their rented premises, they wanted to build their headquarters and manufacture in the new Cyber City at Ebene. Our proposal was runner-up in a restricted design competition.
Footbridge *
Design and build winning competition entry for a pedestrian bridge at Terre Rouge . Several steel bridges with apparent steel structure have been built with little consideration to integration specially in urban sites . The challenge was to built in steel as per the tender requirements ( which made no allowance for aesthetics ) without falling however into the trap of providing only a functional facility .

Automobile Centre
Permaloo Brothers are a family enterprise of mechanics doing extremely well in down town Goodlands. Not very comfortable in a very cramped commercial and residential area, they bought land in Pamplemousses just opposite the botanical gardens, closer to Port Louis. The garage and administrative section are located on the ground floor. The first floor with a separate access is available for rental to secondary industries.

Head Office/ Container Park
Design and construction of showrooms, warehouses and container park at Highlands for Chong & Sons. The project has been conceived as a master plan for a light industrial/ commercial development in this strategic area of Highlands which is called to evolve in the light of converting Mauritius into a duty free island.

Incubator Centre
The Business incubator is a project cherished by Government to nurture emerging companies before they could spread their wings by offering them business areas at very competitive rentals building at Coromandel. The one storey building has an area of 1035 sqm at ground floor and mezzanine to the order of 475 sqm.

New Prison Wing
Runner-up of a design and build architectural competition. This project of a new prison wing at Beau-Bassin has benefited from a thorough reflection on the prison world.

Hotel Laundry
Extension of an existing building to provide industrial facilities and works space. This major laundry aims at centralizing all the laundering and dry cleaning of the five hotels of the sun group. A state of the art installation with a sophisticated water recycling plant has been erected. The existing building which housed the previous laundry acquired by the group has been extended to allow all the laundry processes on one floor. A 500 m3 recycled water storage tank has been installed on the roof as part of the programme to optimize resources of the laundry.

Warehouse/ workshop
Diplomat System Ltd, an aluminum opening manufacturing company has consistently grown over the past years and finds itself greatly handicapped with workshops and offices scattered in different places. Situated in the industrial zone at Phoenix, this project aims at giving a corporate high-tech image to the company through the use of metal and glass.
